Council has committed to developing forward-thinking masterplans, a direct action from the Western Downs Showgrounds Strategy 2023-2038.
The master plans aspire to:
- Guide future capital development of showgrounds assets
- Maximise community benefits in a way that aligns with appropriate standards of service
- Ensure the changing needs of residents and visitors are acknowledged and reflected
To ensure we accurately meet our current and future needs, Council will collaborate with our showgrounds users and the community to understand priorities and gather feedback, and ultimately shape a way forward.
Key stakeholder consultation is now open for the Dalby Showgrounds Precinct and Tara Showgrounds (regular user groups and hirers) through a survey, and in-person meetings between our experienced consultants and user groups occurring in April. Broader community consultation will take place later in the year.
As a result, Council will produce master plans that ensure our showgrounds continue their pivotal role in the community as spaces that support recreational, sporting, and community opportunities to become thriving hubs of community and commercial activity.
