Background
The Dalby Showgrounds Precinct is a state-of-the-art facility boasting the Dalby Events Centre, a large main area, under cover area, sheepdog ring, over 170 stables, ample camping space, and two entertaining spaces.
The master plan will consider the whole Dalby Showgrounds Precinct, including the Dalby Events Centre, Bligh Street Sports Ground, and other possible options.
The Showgrounds have been operational since 1870. During this time the infrastructure needs have undergone many changes, particularly as they have become more multi-purpose.
There are opportunities to explore commercial opportunities at the showgrounds, leverage the growing popularity of equine sports and clubs and further develop Dalby’s ability to showcase the best of the Western Downs.
Where are we now
Community consultation on the development of the showgrounds, including neighbour input and drop-in sessions, will be held at the Dalby Events Centre on Thursday 20 March from 8.00am-12.00pm.
Opportunity to give feedback online will be made available shortly after these sessions. Keep an eye on this space for the survey where you will have a chance to shape the future of the Dalby showgrounds.
Project History
Consultation with key stakeholders, including regular user groups and hirers, were held through an online survey and in person meetings in April 2024.
Our consultants have presented masterplan options to Council, and site investigations such as hydraulic studies are now being conducted. The outcomes of this work will help to determine any further studies and planning necessary for progressing the master planning process.
