Background

The rich cultural history of our region's traditional owners will be recognised and celebrated as part of a new project being delivered at the Chinchilla Botanic Parkland.

Council has partnered with local First Nations families to establish a draft masterplan for a dedicated indigenous area in a section of the popular Parkland.

Through meaningful engagement and inclusive consultation, we hope to create a space that recognises the rich culture and history of our region's traditional owners, while creating an engaging, respectful, and meaningful area for people to meet, connect, reflect, and learn.

Where we are now

Following in-person engagement with our local indigenous focus group, we gathered information, insights and opportunities to inform the development of the Draft Masterplan of the Indigenous Cultural Area at the Chinchilla Botanic Parklands. We then asked the broader community to provide their feedback before the plan was finalised.

This final round of engagement closed on 24 January 2024.

Provide your feedback on the draft Indigenous Cultural Area Masterplan

Feedback will be considered before the finalisation of the masterplan.

Next Steps

After carefully considering the feedback provided in this final round of community engagement, our team of experts will make any necessary amendments and finalise the Masterplan for the Indigenous Cultural Area at the Chinchilla Botanic Parkland, producing shovel-ready plans for when funding can be allocated.
