Background

Western Downs Regional Council is developing a five-year Parks and Recreation Strategy and Placemaking Strategy.

These are two new strategies that will address critical opportunities and issues, and clearly articulate a strategic pathway for the Western Downs to enhance the liveability of the region and support our active, vibrant community.

How to get involved

Council engaged with the community throughout May and June to get their feedback on parks and public spaces throughout the Western Downs. Following in-person consultation sessions with key stakeholder across the region, residents were also invited to have their say via the mapping activity and survey on this page.

Insights gathered through this engagement will inform the direction of Parks and Placemaking Strategies and will help Council to understand the individual opportunities and challenges faced by each of our diverse towns. This work will build on and support the great work already being planned and managed by our communities, such as our Chambers of Commerce and community networks.
