Revised Flood Study: Dalby

We're inviting our Dalby residents to review the existing flood study reports and share your local knowledge to make sure the new models match what really happens during flooding events.

Your input will help improve the accuracy of our flood modelling and maps - so please share rainfall records, experiences and photos of historic flood events.

We're looking for as much information as we can gather from the Dalby community around any flooding events since 2014, which will be used as calibration events for the improved flood maps.

We'll also be combining your feedback with data from the 15 river, rain and water level monitoring stations on and around the Myall and Cooranga Creek catchments.

The updated model will also consider breakouts from Spring Creek, which also have the potential to impact Myall Creek flooding.

Dalby has an unfortunate history of riverine flooding from the Myall Creek catchment and flash flooding from localised heavy rainfall events and severe thunderstorms.

Council is revising the Dalby Flood Study undertaken in 2014 to provide better understanding of flood behaviour throughout the Myall and Cooranga Creek catchments, to improve flood management and disaster response, and provide up-to-date information for infrastructure planning and land use.

The project is fully funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
