Background

In 2022, Council invited residents to have their say as part of a milestone project to deliver a new standard of communications and community engagement across the region. This involved extensive community consultation to understand the communications and engagement needs of the Western Downs.

With over 500 survey responses and face-to-face engagement, the feedback gathered informed the development of Council's national award-winning Communications and Community Engagement Strategy, providing a clear vision for the organisation on how to best engage and communicate with residents.

The strategy includes actions and recommendations underpinned by the objective of strengthening Council’s relationship with community through meaningful communications and community engagement.

Two years since the initial community consultation, Council conducted a check-in with residents to understand how the organisation's communication and engagement efforts were tracking and what improvements could be made.

Residents were encouraged to provide their feedback via an online survey.

Where we are now?

Four years on from initial consultation, we now encourage residents to re-visit the survey and provide new feedback.

The last check-in showed us it is important that our residents are not only heard, but a part of the conversation, and it is hoped the new check-in will reflect our ongoing efforts to strengthen this aspect of our communication and engagement efforts.

We ask you a few minutes of your time by filling in the survey below. The findings from this year's check-in, along with the 2024 check-in will be used to ensure Council’s strategic priority of ‘Meaningful Communications and Community Engagement’ is demonstrated and embedded across the whole of Council.

The survey is also available in print formats at Council's Customer Service Centres, Libraries, and Visitor Information Centres to ensure everyone has an opportunity to have their say.
