Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Biosecurity Plan 2025-2030.

Biosecurity is everyone's responsibility.

Landowners, Council, government agencies, environmental groups, industry bodies, our community… we all play an important role in recognising and minimising biosecurity risks within our industries, homes, and environment.

We asked the Western Downs community to take a look at Council's draft Biosecurity Plan 2025-2030 and provide important feedback during October and November 2025. hank you to those who took the time to fill out the feedback survey either online or in person.

The Western Downs Biosecurity Plan identifies the pest animals and weeds that pose a threat or potential threat in our region and is designed to identify resources necessary for effective, timely management of pests and provide management strategies.

By working together we can protect our local environment, agriculture, and public healthy by preventing, detecting, and managing invasive species.

What the draft Biosecurity Plan means for the Western Downs

Over the course of our community biosecurity review, rural residents, primary producers, industry staff, and government employees across the Western Downs have shared their thoughts. Together, they painted a clear and candid picture of what matters when it comes to protecting our region from pest and disease threats.

Community insight has informed the draft Biosecurity Plan and feedback on the draft plan will be used to evaluate its success in managing weeds and pest animals across the Western Downs and identify any gaps or weaknesses in the existing strategies.

Updating the biosecurity plan is also crucial to align with recent regulatory changes and best practices, ensuring that local strategies are robust and compliant.

This plan will place the region in an ideal position to better protect the local environment, agriculture, and economy from the adverse impacts of invasive species.

Let's work together to protect our local ecosystems, agriculture and public health by preventing, detecting, and managing invasive species.
